Summer Term IV
- MAT 525 - Modern Algebra (3)
Presents a detailed study of algebraic structures such as groups, rings, or fields, including their substructures, quotient and product structures, and homomorphisms.
Summer Term V
- MAT 520 - Foundations of Algebra (3) Devoted to a detailed construction of the number systems. Natural numbers are defined by either set theory of Peono's axioms and their operations are discussed. Each of the larger systems is developed from this beginning. The algebraic definitions such as group, ring, integral domain, field, order, mapping and equivalence relation are introduced and discussed when appropriate.
